Erika Watkins is a native of Michigan City, Ind. She earned a B.A. in professional writing in 2001 from Purdue University and a M.S. in professional writing in 2004 from Towson University. She began her teaching career in 2002 with the Baltimore City Public School System. While there, she was a high school English teacher and served as a lead (instructional support) teacher for three years. From 2005-2011, Erika worked as an adjunct instructor at Towson University teaching writing and communication skills for teachers, business writing and freshman English. She was also a teacher consultant with the Maryland Writing Project. In 2012, Erika moved back to Indiana and began teaching English at Christel House DORS.

DORS is a Christel House Academy managed and supported school. It is authorized by the Mayor of Indianapolis as a public charter school.
